ASSISTED LIVING FAQS
How do I know exactly what my and/or my loved one's needs are?
Each of our residents is an individual with unique needs, which is why we carefully assess each person prior to moving in. Our goal is to provide you or your loved one with the highest level of care while you maintain the highest level of independence possible.
How often can I visit my loved one in assisted living?
We encourage regular family visits, and you can visit every day if you’d like. We do ask that you follow our visiting hours, which run from ____ to _____ Monday through Friday and _____ to ______ on weekends.
What exactly is "assisted living?"
Assisted living means exactly that – the staff at Wesley Gardens is there to assist you while you live your life. Our residents’ requirements range from needing very little help at all to needing help with bathing, getting dressed, eating, and other essentials. The goal at Wesley Gardens is to help you or your loved one to live as independently as possible.
Does moving into an assisted living facility mean giving up my dignity?
Absolutely not. Everybody needs help sometimes, and as we get older our needs change and the types of help we need differ. It’s as simple as that. At Wesley Gardens our goal is to provide the assistance you need to be able to enjoy your life.
What is "memory care?"
Memory care is a specific type of care for our residents who have dementia and/or Alzheimer’s Disease. Memory care patients typically need all the care our assisted living residents need, along with help navigating the progressive loss of memory. As with all our residents, our memory care patients’ quality of life and independence is of top importance, and we strive to maintain the consistency and comfort they need.
Does staff stay on site overnight?
Yes, Wesley Gardens assisted living and memory care patients can rely on us 24/7. If you need help, we’ll be there, regardless of what time it is.
We want to throw our loved one a birthday party - can we do it at Wesley Gardens?
Of course! We have a private dining room you can reserve for family-only gatherings, or if you’d like your loved one’s new friends to attend you could hold a party in the main dining room. Just be sure to bring enough cake!
What if there's a medical emergency?
We have nurses on staff who can provide immediate care. In addition, we are mere minutes away from major hospitals.
I'm nervous about moving to Wesley Gardens - is that natural?
Yes, it certainly is. Many of our residents had lived in their homes for years before moving into Wesley Gardens assisted living facility. There will be an adjustment period during which you’ll grow accustomed to your new environment and way of living. The best advice is to talk to other residents and make friends. Most, if not all, of our residents were nervous moving in and can help reduce your anxiety by talking about how they got through it. It also helps to take part in group activities and become active in our community.
